Cyclist's Yoga

WITH MARTINE HAMERS

More and more athletes and cyclist are discovering the benefits of yoga for their practice. In this workshop we will focus specifically on the needs for a biker of any kind, but all athletes are welcome and can benefit.

Cyclists are dealing with repetitive motion in the legs and hips, rounded back and a forward head posture. This can cause short and super tight hamstrings, hip flexors and quadriceps and it can lead to lower back and neck pain. In this 2 hour workshop we will go over the trouble areas of cyclists and create a yoga routine which you can use at home.

During the workshop we will:• Break down poses and alignment principles for a safe and effective yoga practice• Learn to breathe more efficiently and economically• Meditate as a tool to focus the mind• Discuss how to strategically incorporate yoga into your training schedule• Provide you with a sequence designed specifically for cyclists which you can continue to do at home

Runner's Yoga

WITH MARTINE HAMERS

Running builds muscle strength and burns fat. It keeps your heart and lungs strong, blood pressure in check and reduces the risk of heart attack. However, runners are all too familiar with pulled muscles and joint pain that accompany training. Running often exaggerates imbalances in the body which can, over time, cause injuries.

A yoga practice will help prevent injuries by increasing your flexibility and bringing balance to your body. It will improve your performance by strengthening your whole body as well as your mental focus. In this 2 hour workshop we will learn poses to increase range of motion, improve flexibility, stretch out your muscles, and relax your mind. We will focus on hamstrings, quadriceps, hips, core strength, and breathing.

During the workshop we will:Break down poses and alignment principles for a safe and effective yoga practiceExplore modifications and the use of propsDiscuss how to strategically incorporate yoga into your training scheduleProvide you with a sequence designed specifically for runners which you can continue to do at home
